Lucy Liu is a voice actress, director and singer. She is also an actor. A beautiful, smart and skilled actress, she's a great example to Asian actors aspiring to become big names in Hollywood. After a series of appearances in television shows that were popular and movies, she gained fame when she was cast on the Ally McBeal legal comedy where she played Ling Woo. She translated her unexpected popularity into big screen roles in movies like Shanghai Noon and Charlie's Angels. In Kill Bill Volume 1, Quentin Tarantino, she gave a stunning performance as Japanese crime boss O-Ren Ishii. Around the same time she was playing lead roles in some films that failed at the box office, such as Rise: Blood Hunter. Then she began voicing characters from animated films such as Kung Fu Panda or Tinker Bell. Mia Mason from Cashmere Mafia was a minor role that didn't have any impact. Southland was a highly acclaimed police show that Liu played regularly, was a role which allowed her to be a an internationally acclaimed actor. Liu chooses her roles carefully so that she doesn't get stereotyped in a field which is extremely competitive. Although she's embraced her heritage, she hasn't allowed it to limit her as an artist.
